Club Fun Days

We have been reaching out to others in the live steam hobby to share our railroad with. Over the past several years we’ve been working on some logistical items and are now able to formally open up. The club fun days are NOT part of our normal public run days. The day is meant for members and hobbyist to enjoy the day riding the rails and swapping stories. Event Details

Our club fun days are informal events and are meant for members, member families, and invited guests get together for the day and play with trains and swap stories with others in the hobby. As of July 2020, our railroad, Conyers & Hightower Trail Railroad, became 10 years old. We are approaching about 2 miles of track on the ground with a 60-degree minimum radius on the railroad. We do operate as a 7 1/2-gauge railroad and a Gauge 1 setup in the east loop of the property that was first assembled in 2019.

Accommodations:

We have limited room for RV’s and trailers onsite however overflow space will be available at the RV parking area located at the Georgia International Horse Park facility which is about a mile down the road. For those wishing to stay in a hotel the Hawthorn Suites is directly across the street from the site. Other hotels are available in the area about 3 to 5 miles away.

Visiting Trains:

All locomotive types are welcome, but steam engines are required to have a hydro-static test. The test can be completed at the railroad with help from a NGLS member.

Loading / Unloading

North Georgia Live Steamers has a hydraulic car lift that has three 20-foot sections of track that can be used at one time.

Since this is the first time North Georgia Live Steamers has organized a meet, we are looking for some information to help us plan and gauge how many people are interested in attending this event.
