Big progress on the clubhouse and workshop project this past Saturday as the crew, which consisted of John, Scott, Kenneth, Tyler, Robby, and Norm, finished electrical, finish painting ceiling and walls, and installed lights. The crew also placed clamps on the two containers in preparation of sealing the containers together. It was determined container two needs to be moved a little before the clamps can be fully tightened. Until then container two needs to have several items moved out and placed in the blue container in order to make room for work to begin on cutting out the inner walls and insulating container two. Dates for the next workday are being planned for February so stay tuned for details.
Speaking of February our next club meeting will be Saturday, February 1st at the railroad.
A workday is planned on the Clubhouse and Workshop project this Saturday, January 25th starting at 8:30 a.m. The heat is running, and container is warmer than you might think inside. The plan is to work on electrical and finish painting the last bit of walls and ceiling in container one. Over the next several workdays we will begin getting container 1 and 2 ready for fastening them together and removing the interior wall. In case you haven’t already respond to the clubhouse workday survey that was sent out a few weeks ago please do so we can make plans. The official push on the project starts February 1st with the hope of having the first two containers attached and opened up before our first run day in April.

The members of North Georgia Live Steamers selected the 2025 Board of Directors during the January 4th meeting. We would like to thank all members for their participation in the process. Here is who will be on the board during this year.
Our first club meeting of 2025 will be this Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Hawthorne Suites (1659 Centennial Olympic Pkwy, Conyers, GA, 30013) across the street from the railroad. We will also be holding elections for the 2025 board. All Full Members wishing to vote must pay 2025 dues before votes are taken at the meeting.
It is hard to believe 2024 is about to come to an end. The year started off with New Years Day club fun day with workdays and other activities around the railroad to follow. Our members and volunteers worked more than 40 days and more than 2,000 volunteer hours throughout the year. We could not have done it without the help of “Bob Jr” and other special equipment to get so much done throughout the year. They helped trench, move dirt, gravel, and more on a variety of projects including the Clubhouse and Grandma line. Let’s take a look back at some of the photos highlighting what all happened around the railroad.
The board of directors and the members of North Georgia Live Steamers want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Every three hours in the U.S., a person or vehicle is hit by a train. If you are ever stuck at a railroad crossing, or there’s and accident or any other situation where the railroad tracks are blocked find the blue sign and call.
